MICA MFA STUDENT & ILLUSTRATOR

Just finished up my final assignment for Lifestyle Illustration with Daniel Krall - this time we had to illustrate a cocktail of our choice, create a layout to contain the drink’s recipe, and design a label for one of the ingredients. Challenge accepted! I chose the cocktail Murder in the Forest.

While looking back on the past semester, it occurred to me that I hadn’t done much work I would consider particularly “beautiful” in the stereotypical sense. So, I decided to approach this whole thing with the aim of creating something extremely atmospheric, subtle, open-ended, and delicate. It required way more of my plein air painting skills than I had expected, but I’m pretty stoked with the end result!

I did an art exchange with Vivian Loh - my Murder in the Forest for her Red Lotus. It’s so flipping brave and epic. The perspective on that punch? Too legit to quit.
